Benchmark indices opened Tuesday's session flat with a negative bias.
The S&P BSE Sensex dipped 9 points, or 0.02 per cent, to 38,888, with TCS, Hero MotoCorp, Mahindra & Mahindra, HCL Tech, and Tech Mahindra among the top losers. The broader Nifty50 index added 6 points, or 0.05 per cent, to 11,594.
The Nifty sectoral indices were trading mixed. Nifty Metal rose the highest 0.8 per cent while Nifty IT and Nifty Auto indexes slipped over 03. per cent each.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap slumped 4 points, or 0.03 per cent, to 14,461, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was hovering around 13,680 levels, down 9 points, or 0.07 per cent.
The Rupee opened at 68.56/$ vs Monday's close of 68.53 against the US dollar.
