In India, Coronavirusextended its footprint with Uttar Pradesh reporting a new case of COVID-19 on Wednesday. A junior doctor in King George's Medical University tested positive for the virus, taking the total number of reported cases to 16 in the state so far.
The government informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that 276 Indians have been infected with coronavirus abroad, including 255 in Iran, 12 in UAE and five in Italy.
According to the health ministry, India's total number of cases stand at 151. Globally, the number of cases has reached over 206,668, and there have been over 8,272 reported deaths across 157 countries.

Meanwhile, the United Nations said on Wednesday that the COVID-19 pandemic will significantly increase global unemployment, pushing up to nearly 25 million more people out of work.

Business worth Rs 5 trillion affected due to COVID-19: Tourism ministry to Par panel
The Ministry of Tourism has informed a Parliamentary standing committee that novel coronavirus outbreak has affected business worth Rs 5 trillion in the tourism sector, sources said on Wednesday.
The meeting was held by the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture on the preparedness of COVID-19 and officials from the railways, tourism and aviation ministries gave presentations on the steps taken by them to deal with the issue.

The COVID-19 pandemic will push millions more into unemployment, underemployment and working poverty, the United Nations said on Wednesday, warning that workers globally stood to lose up to $ 3.4 trillion in income this year alone.
"Falls in employment... mean large income losses for workers," the International Labour Organisation said, releasing a report showing workers stand to lose between $ 860 billion and $ 3.4 trillion by the end of 2020.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday said it was experimenting with holding proceedings through video conferencing in view of the coronavirus pandemic and the system would probably be in place by next week.
A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar said experiments and trial runs were being conducted to ensure that the system works smoothly and successfully.
From next week proceedings through video conferencing might be seen in a few cases, the court said.

Even as older adults are most likely to be at the receiving end of the pandemic, more than half (52 per cent) of the baby boomers are the least fearful of contracting coronavirus, according to a survey.
The older generations of urban India seem to be the least fearful of contracting coronavirus, according to the survey by research firm YouGov survey.
Fear is notably lower among baby boomers, with more than half (52 per cent) saying they are not fearful about getting infected, the survey showed.
These numbers are considerably higher than that of Gen Z and millennials at 37 per cent and 32 per cent, respectively, it said.

Churches, institutions told to be on guard against COVID-19
All necessary preventive measures are to be taken against the coronavirus in 200 churches and 150 educational institutions, hospitals and hostels coming under the CSI Coimbatore diocese.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Bishop Timothy Ravinder said the diocese consists of eight revenue districts of Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Nilgiris, Namakkal, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri.
Circulars have been sent to all the churches and institutions on awareness and immediate preventive measures about the coronavirus after receiving guidelines from the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu K Palaniswami on March 16, he said.

Mizoram Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana on Wednesday said the state government is making efforts to set up a virology laboratory at state-run Zoram Medical College to test suspected cases of coronavirus infection.
He said a detailed project report (DPR) has been submitted to the National Centre for Disease Control, Delhi and the Department of Health Research of the Centre for establishing a novel coronavirus-testing laboratory in Mizoram.
"The state government is making efforts to set up a virology laboratory at the ZMC," Lalthangliana told reporters.
