Coronavirus LIVE: India cases at 2,032, deaths 58; Maharashtra cases at 338

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in India rose to 2,032 by Thursday, with the virus claiming 58 lives, according to Worldometer. The World Health Organization said it was deeply concerned about the near-exponential escalation of the new coronavirus pandemic, as the number of deaths doubled in a week. "The number of deaths has more than doubled in the past week. In the next few days we will reach one million confirmed cases and 50,000 death,." said WHO.
Since emerging in China in December, Covid-19 has spread across the globe, claiming 47,263 lives, and infecting 936,829 people.
Coronavirus world update: The coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 30,000 people in Europe alone. Italy and Spain account for three in every four deaths in the continent. As many as 215,020 cases have emerged in the US, which has faced 5,102 deaths so far. In Italy, 13,155 people have died out of the 110,574 confirmed cases. Spain has seen a spike in the total number of cases too (104,118), with 9,387 people dying.

The global economy could shrink by up to 1 per cent in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, a reversal from the previous forecast of 2.5 per cent growth, the UN has said, warning that it may contract even further if restrictions on the economic activities are extended without adequate fiscal responses.

The analysis by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) said the Covid-19 pandemic is disrupting global supply chains and international trade. There has been a lot of misinformation on the news of PM CARES fund accepting foreign donations. What has been announced is that PM CARES fund will simply accept donations and contributions from individuals and organizations that are based in foreign countries: Government Sources.
