Coronavirus update: With over 93,215 new cases, India's coronavirus tally has reached 4,845,003. The death toll has risen by 1,140 to 79,754. India now has 9,73,175 active cases, while 37,02,595 people have recovered. Maharashtra's Covid tally has surged to 1,060,308 after 22,543 cases being reported in the past 24 hours. West Bengal and Delhi now have over 200,000 and 218,300 cases, respectively. The worst-hit states are Maharashtra (1,060,308) Andhra Pradesh (560,000), Tamil Nadu (491,571), Karnataka (450,000), and UP (312,036).
Coronavirus vaccine update: Minister of Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan has said that India may get a vaccine against the coronavirus in the first quarter of 2021 and that he will take the first dose to dispel doubts about its safety.
World coronavirus update: The global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 29,175,454. While 21,018,176 have recovered, 927,986 have died so far. The US, the worst-hit country, has 6,708,458 cases. It is followed by India, which has 4,845,003 cases, Brazil (4,330,455) and Russia (1,062,811).

China launches new tech database to help communities fight Covid-19
The Chinese government is compiling a database of technologies that can be used to combat the coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Science and Technology said in a post on Monday.
According to the post, officials have compiled a list of more than 2,000 "new technologies" and their providers, ranging from automatic temperature detection to diagnosis and hospital information systems, the South China morning Post (SCMP) newspaper reported.
The Ministry has planned to proliferate technology-based applications among hospitals and communities, which have been on the frontlines of the outbreak, as well as to companies which are now coping with the aftermath of a nearly two month-long lockdown.

India has been able to limit Covid deaths to 55 per mn population: Vardhan
Owing to the nationwide efforts the Covid-19 related deaths have been limited to 55 per million population, said Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Monday.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the Union Minister also said that the cases per million population in the country have also been limited to 3,328 in the country.

For the first time, LS members sit in RS chamber as House meets amid Covid-19
In a first, some Lok Sabha members attended the House proceedings on Monday while seated in the Rajya Sabha chamber as Parliament met for the Monsoon session amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Maharashtra: Thane Covid-19 tally crosses 146,000
The number of Covid-19 cases in Thane has gone up to 1,46,102 after detection of 1,930 new cases in the Maharashtra district, officials said on Monday.
Besides, the number of Covid-19 deaths in the district has risen to 3,921 as 28 more people succumbed to the disease on Sunday, they said.

Pakistan reports 539 new cases of coronavirus: Health Ministry
Pakistan has reported 539 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total infections in the country to 302,020, the health ministry said on Monday.
The Ministry of National Health Services said four more people succumbed to the viral disease and the toll currently stands at 6,383.

Kolkata metro resumes services after 5 months gap
Kolkata Metro resumed its services on Monday after a gap of five months due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The metro authorities have reopened the services amid stringent checks and protocols. A day prior to the reopening of services, the metro stations were fully sanitised.
Speaking to ANI, Dr Misbah-uL Haque, a commuter said, "We are happy that metro has started, as we were facing a lot of trouble in travelling. The arrangements here are very good and proper sanitisation is being undertaken."

Arunachal Pradesh's Covid-19 tally crosses 6,000-mark
The Covid-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh crossed the 6000-mark with 146 fresh cases reported in the northeastern state, a senior Health department official said on Monday.
With the fresh cases, the total virus count in the state rose to 6,121, the official said.
